Affiliate Tutorial: how to build an affiliate link

Written by KimC on November 16th, 2008

When you join the Vision Forum affiliate program, you are provided with your own affiliate link to the Vision Forum homepage, but you can also create a custom affiliate link to any other page on the site.

This can be a far more effective sales tool than simply sending prospective customers to the front page!

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Log into the Vision Forum affiliate site: https://affiliates.visionforum.com/login.php
  2. On the left, click on “Build & Track Your Own Links.”
  3. In a separate tab or window, open the Vision Forum website (http://www.visionforum.com/) and go to the product you want to promote. Copy the url from your browser window.
  4. Return to the affiliate site. Paste the url into the “Define Your Own” box.
  5. Choose a single descriptive keyword to identify this affiliate link, such as LibertyDoll or JonathanPark and type it into the “Tracking Keyword” box.
  6. Hit the “Create New Link button.”
  7. Scroll down to see your new affiliate link.

Notes:

  • Your standard linking code found in the upper right of every affiliate screen will take viewers to the Vision Forum homepage.
  • When creating a custom link, you do not have to link to a specific product. You can link to any page on the Vision Forum website, including search results, catalog requests, Doug’s blog, and more. Be creative!
  • Make sure you choose a descriptive keyword for your link, so you’ll be able to tell them apart later if you build many links.
  • Links are arranged in alphabetical order after you create them. You may have to scroll down to find a new one, especially if you have created several.

Thanksgiving sale

Written by KimC on November 6th, 2008

Vision Forum has a large number of Thanksgiving-related resources and gifts for sale at savings of up to 40%.  This is a good time to gather some resources for your family’s celebration or a homeschool unit study.  You can see the whole collection here, or just take a few of our suggestions:

  • The Thanksgiving Primer $6 $5.10
This is an overview of how to enjoy an authentic Pilgrim Thanksgiving in your own home, and includes accurate information concerning dinner menus, music, and the prayers of the Pilgrim Fathers. Chock-full of delightful trivia and historical anecdotes to share at your Thanksgiving table.
  • A Light Kindled: the story of Priscilla Mullins $16 $12
After the first winter in Plymouth, there were only four women alive in the tiny colony. One of them was Priscilla Mullins. She had traveled to Massachusetts with her father and mother but both had perished, leaving her alone in the new world. Undaunted, Priscilla chose to stay rather than return to the “safety” of England. Priscilla trusted completely in her Savior and lived a long and fruitful life with her pilgrim husband. Together they were blessed with 11 children and an estimated one million descendants!
  • Pilgrims vs. Indians $10 $6.50nullThe Pilgrims did more to promote a godly view of Christian/Indian relations than any other group in American history. They signed a peace treaty with local natives which lasted unbroken for more than fifty years. They purchased land from the Indians, traded with them, and invited them to sit on juries. In all, the relations between the two communities represented the high water mark of Christian/Indian relations in North America. This compact disc addresses these issues and seeks to answer questions like: Should we respect pagan cultures or seek to transform them? Is paganism noble? Did the Pilgrims steal land from the Indians?
  • 1599 Geneva Bible $70 $58 null
A high quality leather bound reprint of the original 1599 Geneva Bible with word-for-word accuracy with the 1599 Geneva Bible; original cross references; original study notes by Reformers; genuine leather; modern spelling; and easy-to-read print. This was the Bible of Knox, Cromwell, and Shakespeare, and it was the 1599 Geneva Bible that the Pilgrims took with them to the New World.
  • The Reformation History DVD Series (4 DVDs) $72 $58
Martin Luther, William Tyndale, John Wycliffe, and the Scottish Covenanters — all are reformation heroes. Not perfect men, but men used by God to transform Western Civilization through the power of the Gospel. Series contains three dramatic presentations and one documentary.

Princess Adelina: An Ancient Christian Tale of Beauty and Bravery

Written by KimC on November 5th, 2008

AdelinaI’m biased when it comes to the story of Adelina.  This is a gem of a book, discovered and edited by our own family, published for us by Vision Forum.  The map and glossary were created by our 13yo daughter!

From across the ages — thirteen centuries ago, when the fearless Scottish and Irish missionary bands are sent out from the Isle of Iona — comes the story of a virtuous young woman of unshakeable faith, filled with determination to fulfill the role to which God has called her. She finds herself whisked away from a simple life to become the queen of a kingdom where she wrestles with temptations from her past and faces down enemies intent on her demise. Based on a true story, this Esther-like tale recounts the deeds of the courageous Adelina of the ancient German Culdee church as she endures and overcomes persecution, slander, exile, and the impending destruction of her people. In the end, she is used by God to see the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ shine forth and prevail!
